I never claim to be the expert in all things trending in floral design, but one thing I’m seeing more and more are boho trends. Boho vibes can go so many different directions – you can have hippy boho, grungy boho, delicate boho, modern boho, and even elegant boho. But what really makes a design boho – or bohemian?

From a floral design perspective, the trending boho look is often characterized by the presence of three key items:

• dried florals
• dried palms
• pampas grass

You do not necessarily need to include all three, but the combination of dried florals and foliage, dried palm leaves, and pampas grass are the signature boho materials. You can use them in any combination to ensure your design has texture and interest.

But the real question is how to embrace that boho look while elevating it to fit an elegant or modern aesthetic. I’ve personally used the goods mentioned above in a variety of aesthetics, but I’ve found the easiest way to elevate the boho look is with luxurious floral materials. My personal favorites to mix in are delicate garden roses, soft peonies, or my personal favorites – orchids. These blooms will embrace the texture and interest of the grasses and dried goods but ensure that the look feels just as luxurious as your big day.
