From the time we were engaged in November 2019, to our wedding date on September 12th, everything had changed, things were even changing on the day of the wedding! From the wedding date itself, the original venue being closed, our original photographer catching COVID days before our day, our original florist going out of business, our guest count going from 18 immediate family members to 6, my sister officiating on Zoom rather than in person, and dealing with the personal loss of the groom’s dad and both grandparents, it was just a whirlwind of hyper-planning, adapting, and healing.
Thankfully, my bosses stepped in and saved the day. The landscape company I work for, Mcculloughs’s Landscape and Nursery offered to host our wedding at their home base. (They do not allow events or rent out their space) There was forecasted sunshine and warmth for weeks on our wedding day, so we planned a space outside that they completely re-did for us, and then two days before the wedding it was supposed to rain. So they graciously re-did the entire interior of the main building for us… only to have the actual day of be perfect weather. What a yo-yo!
Then my husband and I’s other bosses, Red Twig Farms stepped in and handled all of the florals last minute, including my bouquet, and they really delivered. Red Twig Farms and Mcculloughs combined and completely transformed the warehouse into a private garden, with plants and flowers literally everywhere. They left it a total surprise so I saw it for the first time on the morning of our wedding, and just felt so loved and cared for by these incredible people who really pulled together to make us forget all of the struggles and hurdles we had to go through to get to the alter.
We were able to get a new photographer last minute, and the stars aligned for us to get Jenny Haas. She was incredible. Our caterers, The Kitchen, were able to move from their venue space to our new space, and cooked our meal in person, even plating and serving us to keep any exposure to COVID down. Seeing everything work out, despite all the changes, made us feel so fortunate and lucky. Which we very much are.
